The Ultimate Ski & Snowboard Road Trip: 100 Days of Winter

Two snow bums plan on snowboarding and skiing 50 western ski resorts over the next 100 days.

Big Sky, MT (PRWEB) January 6, 2010 — The Snow Junkies, a popular online ski and snowboard magazine, has announced plans to ride 50 different western ski areas in a 100 consecutive day period. The “100 Days of Winter” challenge begins January 8th in Utah, and will focus on finding the cheapest ways to ski, board, sleep, and eat in every town they visit.

“A big part of our trip is to show people that they don’t need to be rich to enjoy snow sports,” says Vito Valentinetti, founder of The Snow Junkies and bona fide ski bum. “Our motto is to never pay full price for a lift ticket, so we’ll be digging up all the best ways to save money at the mountain.”

The bulk of the travel will be handled by Valentinetti and his cohort, Katherine “Coco” Mendez, who will also be handling photography duties. Various contributing editors of The Snow Junkies will join them along the way. The crew will be capturing photos and videos to post on a daily-updated blog, and interacting with fans on popular social media websites, including Facebook and Twitter.

Saving money won’t just be limited to the ski resorts. The Snow Junkies plan on visiting local hot spots. “For Katie and me, it wouldn’t be a road trip if we didn’t check out the nightlife, crash a hot tub or two, and find the best cheap eats in town. The only difference is that we’ll be sharing all the great deals we find with our readers,” says Valentinetti. “It turns out that where the locals eat and drink is usually the best part of a ski town – and the best way to stretch a dollar.”

“One of the most expensive parts of a ski trip is lodging, so we’re going to be highlighting some alternative ways to spend the night, whether it be couchsurfing, grabbing a deal on Craigslist, or renting an RV,” Valentinetti adds.

This ultimate ski and snowboard road trip kicks off January 8th and runs until April 17th. At press time, the tour is booked to go to California until the end of January, Oregon and Washington for most of February, and then off to British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, and Colorado.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the promotion.
