Day 76
Location: Mullan, Idaho
Resorts: 37 out of 50
Heading out of Idaho to Montana, we had to stop at Lookout Pass and grab a few runs. This smaller area sits right on the Idaho/Montana border. Started in 1935, this is one of the region’s best family ski areas with free ski school for kids.
The “free” part even extended to 100 Days of Winter. After getting a free ticket at Schweitzer, it was a treat to find out that Lookout Pass was giving away free tickets all weekend. A wonderful bluebird Saturday turned the snow into some slushy and fun spring riding.
There’s three parts to Lookout Pass: the Montana Side, the Idaho Side, and the North Side. The south facing Montana side was hurting this late in the season with a bunch of trails closed, but we still enjoyed the views. The Idaho side is where the bulk of the action takes place. It’s got a large face with small tree shots to be found in the Lucky Friday and Last Chance Glades.
